Burns Breakfast

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

….a taste of burns

Donald Kay as Rabbie Burns

Ayr is the Birthlace of Robert Burns. Why not pay a memorable visit to Burns Country.

The Burnside Guest House offers guests the chance to enjoy an introduction to the life and poetry of Robert Burns who was born in Ayr in 1759.

Donald Kay, in his guise as Rabbie Burns, is a popular and weel-kent figure around Ayr.

On request, he will appear at the guest house at breakfast time to give a potted history on Robert Burn’s short but eventful life and recite some of his poetry.

Guests will be treated to a traditional full Scottish breakfast starting with porridge made with cream  and whisky, followed by a chance to sample haggis,  bacon and egg and black pudding bread. The sumptious spread is then finished with a platter of fruits, cheeses and oatcakes.

Guests then have the opportunity to visit Burns country:  Burn’s Cottage where Burn’s was born, the new Burns Heritage Park (completed in summer 2010), Burns Memorial and Gardens and  the haunted Alloway Kirk and Brig O Doon which feature in the famous Tam O’Shanter poem.

The Burns Breakfast is a memorable way to be introduced to the works and wonder of our national bard. The experience will be both informal and entertaining and suitable for all ages.

Costs Per Person:

Overnight stay at Burnside with Burns Breakfast with Rabbie: £35/person (min 4 persons)
Overnight stay inclusive of Burns Breakfast and Tour of Burns Country: £50/person

Please contact Liz by phone or e-mail enquiry form.
